Peter Hutter |
| Biography: Born in 1956 in Kempten, Southern Germany; Studied arthistory in Augsburg, Tübingen, Berlin. Several courses in differt art techniques in Zeicheninstitut der Universität Tübingen. Several jobs as an art-historian; for example lecturer at Leipzig University.
Just as the glance of the two-headed ancient Roman god Janus is directed backwards and forwards, to the past and to the future, so too is our present, which is marked by memory and vision, reflected in the pictures of the Berlin artist Peter Hutter. As the expressive means for conveying his thoughts, this painter employs elements of the modern city, manifest throughout the world as a chaotic juxtaposition of traditional and new architecture. Anonymous fragments of edifices and ruins allegorically stand for the past; a grid resembling a mirror-like facade - for the current. Through the montage of incongruent artificial and natural elements, an imaginary world comes into existence that stirs the observer to personal reflection.
