Gina Eaker Biography: Hello, my name is Gina. Let me tell you a little bit about me and my obession to create. All my life I have been driven to create, as far back as a child. I remember being six years old and wanting more than anything in the world to come down the stairs one Christmas morning and see that Santa had brought me a piano. Truly, that is ALL I wanted as a child was a piano. Unfortuneately, my parents could not afford a piano but they did get me one of those portable organs to play and play it I did, as well as the accordian (hey, being Italian and living in New York, there were a lot of accordians playing at weddings, etc.!). When I was nine I remember my neighbor teaching me how to crochet and knit. I started making little crocheted stuffed animals and later on doilies and crocheted vests (they were the rage back then). Then I went to high school and had my two favorite classes, Art and Math. Isn't it funny that where we are going is mapped out for us sometimes when we are kids and do not even realize the impact of what we are learning in school and how it will affect us the rest of our life? Well, I can honestly say if it had not been for my art teacher I would not have had the confidence that I do today. Hail, great teachers out there!! He really loved my work and was THE most encouraging person in my life for my love of art and creating that I have ever known. Unfortuneately, as a teenager growing up in the Vietnam War days, I was not dedicated to my work as I had too many other things to do like hanging out and protesting for things I knew nothing about except that it was cool to be at a protest rally! Anyway, now that I've bored you to tears, if you're still here, I have found myself......but it took a while and it took me right back in the circle where I had been when I was six, wanting to create. I am now 48 years young and have worked in pretty much every medium there is, including inventing a few of my own! I have experienced sculpture, glass art, mosaic, jewelry, collage, watercolor and gouche, acrylic and oils. I have found the mediums that give me the most enjoyment and pleasure and those would be painting and design. My creative interests and obessions have also taken me to a few other areas which I really enjoy and feel there is a need for at this time in our lives. These would be my line of chakra jewelry and chakra essential oil blends created to aide in opening and balancing the chakras through their use... to see complete biography, click on artists name Country: United States Birthyear: 1955 Galleries: http://www.vladartgallery.com/EditCollection.asp http://www.yessy.com/gina_eaker Awards: 1994 Design Competition - 1st Place $500 - Oklahoma City, OK Media: computer or digital art Style: visionary, mystical, spiritual, symbolic, abstract, visionary Subjects: light and color, landscapes & nature, women, wildlife
