Gail Williams Biography: Gail M. Williams was born and raised in upstate New York. Her family's home was surrounded by generations of antiques and art objects, a source of inspiration which continues to evolve and is ever apparent in her work today. While in college, Gail learned the art of calligraphy. Combining her delicate floral watercolors, she became known for her personalized designs of stationery, invitations, placecards, and restaurant menus. After college, she moved to Chatham, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. There, she apprenticed with a well known local weaver. It wasn't long before her own creations of richly woven shawls, vibrantly colored rugs, and other fiber designs became popular on the Cape. Gail met and married Chef Timothy Williams, a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America. They moved to a small town on the scenic Hudson River, gathering more antiques and collectibles. After the birth of their first child, opportunity presented itself and Gail opened an antique shop which also featured the works of local artists and artisans, in the balcony of a beautiful old church. Seven years ago, the Williams' settled in the Atlanta area with their two young daughters. Gail immediately dove into the local art scene. For a time, she hand-paintined glassware at a popular Buckhead restaurant. Experimenting with a new medium using tiles, glass, and china, Gail transformed pottery, picture frames, and even furniture into unique mosaic pieces. Eventually, she set up a studio in her home. Today, copies of her original designs can be found in gift shops and department stores throughout the United States. Williams divides her time between raising a family, working on her own art, and representing artists.
