Cheryl McCardle Biography: Cheryl McCardle works from her studio in Clayton, NC which is just outside of Raleigh. She relies heavily on an intuitive approach to her artwork. Influences include the colorful shapes in the work of Georgia O'Keefe, the raw texture in the work of Anselm Kiefer, and the rhythmical qualities of the art of Wassily Kandinsky. The artist obtained a degree in Studio Art from George Mason University. Her major focus was painting. However, Cheryl sees her work as an evolutionary process, and she continually seeks new avenues of creative expression. She is currently exploring the idea of spiritual transformation in her figurative painting and sculpture series. Cheryl is inspired by the rugged qualities of nature as well as music. Her work can vary from the serenity of a wooded landscape to the vibrance of a jazz concert. She sees a tremendous healing power in the arts in both the participation and observation. When taking a commission work, Cheryl enjoys working closely with the client. She considers it a privilege to produce a work that has a personal meaning for the buyer.
