Stephen Anderson was born in 1967 in San Pedro, California. He received a Bachelors of Fine Art degree from California State University Long Beach (CSULB). Following graduation, Stephen pursued a career in art, he joined art organizations and began to exhibit extensively, across the United States and in Paris, France. He has received awards and recognition for his art. He has also contributed to the community by participating in a mask making workshop for children with Cystic Fibrosis. His current series: Burned Fingers series of 1,000 examines the gestures and positions of hands and the varied meanings that occur; from love to anger to alienation to enlightenment. The series begun in August 1997 and has a predicted finish date of late 2002, done with a blowtorch and oil paint and mixed media on wood.

Along with his pursuits in painting he also freelanced in graphic design, and has done logos, announcements and web sites for some of the art organization of which he is a member, along with outside commissions, and for his own publicity including a on-line portfolio web site containing both his paintings and graphic design projects. He has also continued his education with a Certificate in Computer Graphic Design, Specializing in Digital Imaging, from CSULB, and a course in Pre-press/Digital publishing from California State University Fullerton.

Stephen is also currently working as a Textile Designer for Hoffman California Fabrics. Utilizing both his fine art and computer skills.
