Kate O'Brien was born in 1979 in Wodonga, Victoria. Australia. She showed an interest in Art from an early age and has always had a keen interest in anything creative. In 1998 she studied Illustration at Moreton Institute of TAFE and is currently studying the combined Bachelor of Visual Art in Fine Art and Bachelor of Education at the Queensland College of Art with a view to becoming in an Art Teacher when she graduates in 2006.
Much of Kate's work contains a religious subtext reflecting her upbringing in a family which placed high value on Biblical teachings. Using this in combination with her love of Medieval art and Icons, her work has been described as being like the work of "Mambo's Mombassa with a social conscience". |
