As the world reorganizes itself, the language of metaphor opens our field of inquiry giving us the opportunity to explore the feelings and ideas that emerge through our participation. The material, process and context of art-making provides an avenue of direct experience and allows a brief weighted, transitory glimpse.
I am able to build on the current and historical body of expressive painting to create emotionally charged improvised imagery. The sensual, physical nature of the medium is explored through areas of worked paint as it is layered, stroked washed, dotted and built-up on the canvas. In an open field, invented organic shapes are orchestrated with floating vibrating colors to create movement, rhythm and balance in a dynamic picture plane. The ideas and feelings that are discovered and expressed in the process of making emerge and are stated simply with an emotional and visual power.
