Adela Arrufat Gracia, Castellon, Spain 1975.

“Opening for an instant a window into our lives can surprise us.”

My great admiration for the classical masters combined with my extensive painting studies helped
me chose the methods and techniques to express emotions, explore and research techniques on oil
painting.

I seek the "beauty" of moments in everyday life. I am escaping the standards set by the image culture
and fashion. The ugliness, the grotesque, sadness, the pass, the joy, pain, mood, anxiety, hope, all
intimate dimensions of people and things shape the thoughts of "beauty." The moments of everyday
life, without losing perspective that they are not eternal.

At the beginnings of my career my paintings were very influenced by sober Spanish painting
tradition, I now explore light in dramatic but realistic paintings softened plastically. I am influenced
by Norman Rockwell in his social realism and at times Edward Hopper in his solitude. Introspection
reflected in the other through figurative painting.
